Section 16 - Paradise Valley

Section 16 offers the perfect outdoor getaway that is close to town and overlooks Mirror Lake Golf Course.  With 6.1 miles of gently rolling, non-technical trails completed to-date, this trail system offers opportunities for families and individuals alike. Not only that, but the views of the Kootenai Valley from the northern section of this trail system are breathtaking!


Trailhead: 1099 Kootenai Trail Road, Bonners Ferry  

Trail Facilities: Parking, Restroom, Kiosk, Pack it in/Pack it out

Trail Activity: Year-Round Use for Walking, Trail Running, Hiking, Mtn. Biking, Snowshoeing, Cross-Country Skiing


  • Equestrian on roads or designated horse trail sections only. Due to safety and potential tread damage, Horses are NOT allowed on hiking & biking Trails 201, 202, 203 or 204.


Difficulty Rating: Easy & Flat  to Intermediate & Rolling w/ some tight corners


Completed Trail Details (As of fall 2022, 10.2 Miles have been built to-date):


Trail 201 / Power Broom: ● Easy 2.5 Mile loop – generally flat singletrack with minimal natural obstacles. Singletrack slated for winter grooming – see Section 16 - Winter Trails page.


Trail 202 / Social Distancing:  ● Easy 3.6 Miles – Generally flat singletrack with an added up & downhill section (half mile 4% avg grade), minimal natural obstacles with optional obstacles for those ready to attempt new features.  Singletrack slated for winter grooming – – see Section 16 - Winter Trails page.


  • Trail 202/201 Outer Loop Combination:  5.4 miles loop when combined with the outer sections of Trail 201.
  • Trail 202/201 Inner Loop Combination:  4.8 mile loop when combined with the inner section of Trail 201.                                                     


Trail 203:  New!  Open - June 17, 2022  (Best views!)

Intermediate 2.9 Miles (3.5 mi out & back to 202) – Rolling, exposed singletrack avg 6% grade.  Minimal natural obstacles with optional obstacles for those ready to attempt new features.  Watch for a couple tight corners / switchbacks!  


Trail 204:  Constructed summer 2022

Easy/Intermediate 1.2 mile option connecting the 202 & 203.  Rolling singletrack avg 4-6% grade.  Minimal natural obstacles w/ optional features.  


Winter Use:

Depending on conditions, both Trails 201 & 202 will be groomed for fat-tire bicyclist & snowshoers, and wide trails will be groomed for cross-country skiers.   See Section 16 - Winter Trails page.
