August 12, 2026 - The upper portion of the Enchanted Forest trail system accessed from the Hoot Owl Trailhead remains temporarily closed following the severe windstorm that impacted the area earlier this summer.
The storm caused extensive damage, including downed trees, slash, root holes, and other hazards. In addition, ongoing timber salvage operations are currently taking place in the area. Trail rehabilitation is expected to begin this fall once salvage operations are complete and soil moisture conditions allow for restoration work.
The temporary loss of this riding opportunity has been disappointing for the community and is also greatly missed by the 9B Trails volunteers who have dedicated countless hours to building and maintaining the Enchanted Forest trail system.
In the meantime, riders are encouraged to visit the Cow Creek Trailhead system and enjoy this addition to the Enchanted Forest.
August 2026 - 9B Trails is excited to announce the completion of a mountain bike skills park and beginner/intermediate trail system at the Enchanted Forest Cow Creek Trailhead, providing riders with a destination to build confidence, improve technical skills, and enjoy miles of handcrafted singletrack.
Located at 6611 Cow Creek Road, the Cow Creek Trailhead area features approximately 2.5 miles of beginner and intermediate mountain bike trails, a gravel parking area, covered picnic tables, and a bicycle skills park consisting of skinnies, stairs, log rides, boulder features, progressive drops, and other handmade features.
The skills park was designed to provide a fun and progressive environment for riders of all ability levels. Whether riders are developing skills or refining technical abilities, the park offers an opportunity to practice, build confidence, and prepare for more challenging terrain.
This project is the result of several years of work by 9B Trails members and a small but dedicated group of volunteers, with grant support from the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Mountain Bike Fund and the expertise of master trail builder Scott Rulander, whose craftsmanship helped bring the vision to life.
9B Trails thanks its volunteers, partners, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, and community members whose continued support makes projects like this possible.
The Cow Creek Trailhead area is open to the public, and 9B Trails encourages riders to visit, explore the trails, and experience the skills park. For more information, visit the 9B Trails website at www.9btrails.org or follow 9B Trails on Facebook.
